Workshop Description:
Unleash your child’s inner storyteller through the vibrant world of comics! This 4-session workshop teaches young learners to create their own comics using simple visuals, playful dialogue, and imaginative plots. From brainstorming characters to designing action-packed panels, students will develop foundational storytelling skills while having fun. The workshop culminates in a collaborative class anthology, giving students pride in their published work.

Objective:
Equip students with basic comic creation skills (plotting, character design, visual storytelling) and foster creativity, collaboration, and confidence in self-expression.

Workshop Content:

Session 1: Comic Basics

  • Introduction to Comics: What are panels, speech bubbles, and captions?
  • Character Creation: Design a hero/villain (e.g., “Captain Cupcake” or “The Homework Monster”).
  • Interactive Activity: Draw a 3-panel comic about a “superhero pet.”

Session 2: Dialogue & Action

  • Writing Fun Dialogue: Practice snappy conversations for characters.
  • Story Arcs: Create a simple conflict/resolution (e.g., “The missing cookie caper”).
  • Interactive Activity: Draft a 6-panel comic using a template.

Session 3: Art & Design

  • Visual Storytelling: Use colors, expressions, and motion lines to show emotions.
  • Storyboarding: Plan a comic strip from start to finish.
  • Interactive Activity: Add speech bubbles and sound effects (e.g., “BOOM!”).

Session 4: Publish & Celebrate

  • Compile the Anthology: Assemble comics into a class book.
  • Author Bios: Write about themselves as “comic creators.”

Interactive Activity: Host a “Comic Con” gallery walk for parents.
