Mindful Maze: Focus Under Pressure

Teens aged 13–18 learn to stay calm and focused in chaotic situations through the “Mindful Maze” game. By navigating distractions and practicing mindfulness techniques, students build concentration skills applicable to exams, presentations, and daily challenges.

Objective:
Develop focus, mindfulness, and emotional regulation under pressure.

Workshop Content:

Session 1: Introduction to Mindfulness

  • What is Mindfulness? Link focus to academic and personal success.
  • Guided Activity: Focus on breathing exercise.

Session 2: The Science of Distraction

  • Discussion: How distractions (phones, noise) impact learning.
  • Mindful Maze” Round 1:
    • Navigate a maze while partners create distractions (e.g., clapping, shouting).
    • Use breathing techniques to stay focused.

Session 3: Advanced Focus Strategies

  • Time-Blocking: Prioritize tasks using the Pomodoro Technique.
  • “Mindful Maze” Round 2:
    • Add complexity (e.g., “Solve math problems while navigating”).

Session 4: Real-World Applications

  • Activity: Design a “Focus Plan” for exams/projects.
  • Debrief:
    • “How can mindfulness help during a presentation?”
    • “What’s one distraction you’ll eliminate this week?”
